- Solar panels Arvada
When looking into solar panels in Arvada, one may have heard quite a bit about sun-powered batteries, and may have come to wonder what the fuss is all about. In essence, these batteries are deep cycle, which offer storage for the energy obtained from the sunlight, wind, or any other renewable energy system. They are quite a bit different from car batteries, because they can live for a long while, even through many deep discharges. This is great news, especially when one realizes just how often these types of discharges would happen often when it comes to obtaining energy from the sun.
Solar panel systems in Arvada that are off grid require the panels, charge controllers, as well as batteries, which are a very important component, as they can be used for an independent electricity network, in case a power failure should occur.
Why Are They Important?
If the battery were to be left out of the solar panel system used in Arvada, one would either only have power during the daytime, or when their generator is in use. This type of battery can be quite expensive, depending on the material it is made out of, its capacity, the depth at which it discharges, and its length of life. However, having a good one will provide enough benefits to make the investition worth it.
Maintenance
As previously mentioned, these batteries are made to be unloaded and reloaded quite a lot. Manufacturers usually recommend that their limiting depth for discharging be set at 20 percent. It is also a good idea to monitor these batteries to ensure proper maintenance, and a prolonged lifespan.
Types
Marine: these are ideal for small systems, such as the ones used on boats. These are ideal for conditions in which other types of electricity are not created, since they can’t be used continuously for long periods of time.
Flooded: These ones are lead acid, with caps through which one can add water. These ones can be quite cheap, and have a good lifespan. They work best for use outdoors, since they create gas when they are charged. If used on the inside, a good venting system should be put in place, since the gases can be explosive or toxic.
Gel: These ones are sealed, and release no gases, which means they can easily be installed indoors, without one inquiring any risks.
Absorbed Glass Mat: As the name suggests, the electrolyte is held in between the plates by a glass mat, which makes them leak proof. In addition, they also offer a better performance, which means that they are superior to the other types of batteries. Indeed, they have all the benefits that gel batteries do, but with a better quality.
